PARENT CENTER

Greenwood’s Parent Center was created to help support parents with homework, studying, discipline and mental health issues. The Parent Center offers a variety of software, books, teaching tools, magazines and other useful materials. We have provided a list of materials on this site for your convenience.

Visit the Parent Center

Available Materials

The Parent Center has many materials available to check out for home use. We have Frog Family Fun Packs that are designed to go home with you and your child. These packs have exercises and games to help your child with Math and Reading. We have videos on an array of topics: discipline, behavior, depression, autism, learning disabilities, eating disorders and teen substance abuse are just a few. We also have books on almost every topic that a parent would need. If the center does not have what you need, we will work diligently to locate the needed resource.

Prescription Program

Our Prescription Program was set up to help parents and teachers work together to get the most useful tools for home. Your child’s teacher will write out a prescription of what you need so you can bring it to the Parent Center. This will ensure you have the best resources available. However, you can utilize the center without a prescription.

EDUCATION FOUNDATION
"Striving to Enhance Education"

The Partnership

Parents and educators, alumni and business leaders, school administrators and corporations are working together with a common goal in mind- the advancement of education through the Greenwood Education Foundation. The Greenwood School District now serves over 3,300 students and is the largest employer in South Sebastian County with a budget in 2007-2008 of more than $20 million.

The Building Blocks

Public tax resources may not be sufficient in the future to sustain the quality education program Greenwood residents have come to expect. The Foundation's purpose is to gather funds that can be used to expand existing programs and create new ones; to establish or secure mini-grants for teachers to improve the overall quality of instruction in the school district; and to initiate improvements in established programs and facilities

The Gift

The Greenwood Education Foundation receives donations -both small and large- from caring individuals and corporations to establish an endowment fund and enhance the capital improvements program for the district. The Greenwood Education Foundation is a 501 (C) 3 tax exempt organization.

The Greenwood Foundation received a $24,700 grant from the Kellogg Foundation for startup operations, and has received other generous gifts from various foundations to fulfill it's mission statement.

The Architects

Board members of the Greenwood Education Foundation come from all walks of life and share a commitment to the tradition of excellence that always has been the priority in the Greenwood schools. Present Foundation board members are; Dr. Kay Johnson, James Cox, Dr. James Henry, Carolyn Tarver, Marta Loyd, Dr. James Burgess, H.B. Stewart, Jerry McConnell, Wayland Parker, Gail Martin, Mark Linam, Stan Carter, Robert Turner, Stanhope Wilkinson, Jeff Geren, Wanda Ulmer, John Fairbanks, and Eddy Beshears. JoElla Skaggs is the executive director.
